Back problems?

Question:
my friend has a really bad back pain, she has gotten a massage, put deep heat on it and shes relaxed but nothing will work..any suggestions?

Answers:
PLEANTY OF REST. tell friend to lay on side with pillow between knees, bend knees slighty toward chest change sides every hour or so, do not lay flat on back, use heat fo 20 min at a time, if friend has pain in specific area, lower back see a doctor if pain does not decrease with in a couple of days, if not allergic, try ibprofen, betting its probably a stressed muscle, if pain keeps reaccuring see doctor, i have personally had 2 back surgery, back pain is HORRIBLE. other than that i would have to know exactly how ur friend hurt her back to suggest specifics.
Tell her to find out if she has scoliosis (curvature of the spine) I have it and it causes very bad back pain. Nothing helps it. I need surgery to have it fix. I hope she feels better.Best Wishes.
I have Sciatica. It sounds worse than it is, really. What I do for pain is take some Motrin, and lay flat on my back on the floor.
Is the pain in the lower back?
If the pain is severe, you should take complete bed rest for a week to 10 days. Consult an ortho who might prescribe tablets for relief from pain and reducing any inflammation, which could be the cause of the pain. Consultation is absolutely necessary.
Avoid any strain on the back like forward bending, lifting weights etc.
I think I understand her pain. I think she might of hurt her tailbone at some time. You should get your coccyx/sacrum x-rayed. www.coccyx.org
Tell her to go to the Chiropractor. They can tell her what is going on and ways to help relieve the pain. That is her best bet. If she is just wanting some drugs until she gets to see the Chiropractor I suggest she go to her primary doctor first. Ice is the best thing you can do for that pain.
Is time to see a doctor of Chiropractic. There is much work to be done to have it corrected. Most of that she will have to do herself, if she finds a good doc who will give her proper stretching instructions.

If you would like to have some of the specific stretches to ease some of the pain, contact me and will forward them to you.
