what is the difference between systolic and diastolic?
Question:
Answers:
Systolic is the measurement of pressure put on the vasculature while the heart is pushing blood. Diastolic is the measurement of pressure put on the vasculature while the heart is at rest.
Two numbers are used to describe blood pressure:
* Systolic. The systolic pressure (the higher and first number) measures the force that blood exerts on the artery walls as the heart contracts to pump out the blood.
* Diastolic. The diastolic pressure (the lower and second number) is the measurement of force as the heart relaxes to allow the blood to flow into the heart.
its exactly the opposite. both greek words, systolic means something that shrinks, that becomes smaller, diastolic means something that gets larger. that is the meaning of the actual words, the girl above describes the medical terms which are correct. dont know which explanation you want!
