Why are so many people rude to over weight people?

Question:

Answers:
Approximately 25% of all Americans are obese, so my hunch is that FEAR causes people to be rude to someone overweight. Also, the American 'ideal' (if you look at television, watch movies, or read magazines) is Young, Thin, Wealthy, Well-educated, Healthy, Driving a New Car, Well-Dressed, etc. Anything less than that is not accepted.
However, it is never acceptable, in a tolerant society, to be rude.

Other Answers:
Because they think its cool to be rude, and they would say something rude to anyone about anything.

Ignorance They are shallow and can't see behind the weight. I wish people would see people for who they are not what size they wear.

because people grew up this way. They probably were the bullies in school. they didn't have the family values that some of us had. I always hoped that they would get a disease and take medication that increases their fat content and then see how they like it.

Because most people are deeply dealing with their own problems, and it makes them feel better to make someone else feel bad to, not realizing you do unto others as you want done to you!

because they are stupid idiots, that's what I think. most people find heavier, gay, blondes, or even other skin color / races as easy targets for crude jokes
