how do i get health services through arizona state agencies?

Question:
My husband has many health issues. He's on disability but won't get medicare till 2007. The state were in is dropping his medicaid because they don't know how to determine the case. We really need state medical help. We have no means to pay for medical costs. We were wondering what the state of arizona has to offer, as we were residents there a couple years ago. We choose arizona because of the fact that the region would also be better for his health.

Answers:
I am in Arizona and get multiple services for my handicapped daughter. Services are pretty limited. However, you can apply for ALTCS (Arizona Long Term Care-- which is federal and they are more lenient on financial terms) and then AHCCCS (the medicaid program). With ALTCS you get AHCCCS but it is essentially forever. Arizona will automatically give you medicaid for 6 months when you apply and then you just get referred to other services and such,. You can have medicare and medicaid at the same time. Call them and see what help you can get. Google AHCCCS and find the phone number and ask them and they will be able to assist you

Other Answers:
In Arizona, medicaid is called AHCCS, and you get it by going to the DES office. If you go to an emergency room as a patient (or into the hospital as a patient), they will apply you for it there. If you do not qualify for AHCCS, there is a sliding scale clinic run by Catholic Charities known as St. Elizabeth's Clinic. There are others, but it would depend upon what part of town you are in.
