Why would my daughters finger nails and toe nails keep coming off, peeling right off.?

Question:
She is 4 years old.

Answers:
The nail is important in protecting the sensitive nerve-endings, and this needs to be addressed with a doctor in order to help her develop normally.

Possible causes:
1. Fungal infection.
2. Nervous system disorder.
3. Nutritional deficiency.
4. Mineral deficiency.
5. Genetics.
6. Compulsive behavior (Tourette's - no, not as in swearing; most people with Tourette's compulsively pick at some part of the body)
7. Defect in the nailbed or nail matrix.

Start with a pediatrician and have him or her refer you to a good dermatologist.

Other Answers:
not enough milk drinking ? some kind of calcium deficiency ? are there other problems ? like with hair or teeth ?

Desease. or maybe just very soft nail. You might want to take that up with her Doctor Sorry to be the one to suggest it, really, but -- self injury?

Poor nutrition for sure.

Possibly a hygiene realted issue as well.

HELLO, GO TO A DOCTOR!

It could be a calcium deficiency, or even a fungal infection. I would suggest you take here to the doctor, he can runs test to see what it is. Besides, it can be a symptom of something more serious, not that a calcium deficiency isn't serious, just that there are alot of diseases out there that I don't even know. I saw someone ask this question on tv like on a news show and they said it is because you don't get enough protien bc thats what your nails are made of
