Feels like something stuck in throat, comes and goes, please read on...?

Question:
Sometimes, especially following drinking alcohol or smoking, it feels like there is something stuck in my throat. A month ago I felt it on one side, now I feel it on the other. Also my mouth feels dry. Is this GERD? Or is it from drinking and/or smoking? Has anyone else experienced this issue? It's not a lump, just feels like there's an irritating piece of food stuck on the side of throat when I swallow but there's nothing there...

Answers:
You're a smoker, so I would guess that flem, or mucous, caused by your smoking has hardened into lumps and is getting lodged around your tonsils. Do you still have tonsils? When I smoked I would get these, and if they wouldn't dislodge by themselves I would try to do it with my finger. I know that sounds gross, but they can be very annoying. Hope this helps.
