What do you use to scratch an itch while in a cast?

Question:

Answers:
This sounds weird, but it often works.try scratching the exact same spot on the opposite arm/leg. Another trick is to "thump" on the cast over the itchy spot with you knuckles.

But whatever you do DON'T stick anything down between the cast and your skin. You can cause infections through scratches or create pressure sores by bunching up some of the cast material. Either scenario could be big trouble for your recovery.

Other Answers:
Try fish tape that electricians use to pull wires through walls.
A letter opener. Thin like a knife, without the sharpness.
i just got out of a cast..i would untangle a metal coat hanger and use that..
DON"T stick anything down in there. it could cause alot of problems. take Benadril or something like that OTC.

Unfortunately, you are not supposed to use anything!! Even the slightest movement under the cast could cause your bones to move. This means the Dr. would have to reset the bones and you will be in a cast much longer..trust me on this one!!

I used a ruler to sratch my arm.bad idea..
I have seen patients use knitting needles, rulers, coat hangers, etc. Not a good idea to use anything - it's a good way to break the skin and start an infection. Itching is often nature's way of saying that things are healing, but try to avoid scratching it.

Benadryl OTC should help.
A wire clothes hanger.
