Does Smoking effect the performance of the brain?

Question: Is it starved of Oxygen and does this mean that people in authority are able to make correct descisions.What about an airline Pilot for example,even though he doesnt smoke in the cockpit or does he.would his lungs still be affected.

Answers:
Smoking will cause slight suffocation of the brain while and shortly after getting "a fix". The brain is a wonderful thing and can rebuild brain cells lost during that time. The real concern is the persons addiction. Say the Pilot for example is on a 10 hour flight by the third hour without nicotine the persons conscious and sub conscious decision making process is completely over taken by "need". Thus causing that person to be irritable and unlikely able to give 100% of brain capacity to the current task.
