Why is it that people are determined to buy "name" brand when?

Question:
Why do people spend the extra money to buy name brand things like "Tylenol" when they can buy the "no name" brand. The ingredient in Tylenol is acetaminophen, but cost much, much more. My opion is that they think it has to say Tylenol. Just like Q-tips and kleenex etc.

Answers:
I used to work in a pharmacy & this was a never-ending debate with customers! Whether it was Over-The-Counter medications or prescriptions there was always a group of people who wanted the brand name, regardless of the price difference. A lot of them said "This is what my doctor told me to get/prescribed to me" & you could not talk them out of it. Personally, I have always bought generic/store brands!

Other Answers:
they probally think that since its popular and so many ppl buy it it must work right?
