What are these sharp, shooting headache pains?

Question:
I'm 27. Never get headaches unless for a reason (hangover, illness, hunger). A few nights ago I woke up to a sharp shooting pain in my head. Since then its been a few days and I get them intermittantly throughout the day. A series of throbbing, sharp headache pains that i just ignore - but what is this? I was thinking it could be from stress as Im going through a very tough time right now financially etc.

Answers:
Of course, one of the causes might be psychological.

Anyway, there might be a solution: Go for a manual one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. The effect on the self-healing power of your body and mind is simply amazing - own experience. :-)

Just - the treatment is available in California and Europe only, costing approx. 220 dollars. It''s really worth travelling far.

Other Answers:
yes you rigth! That's severe stress, if you can consult your doctor.
stress and also eyestrain and not drinking enough water.
Sharp pains usually concentrated in your head are usually due to spasms of either muscles inside your scalp or spasms of blood vessels inside your brain. In either case, if this continues, you need to see your healthcare provider. Spasms can be caused by stress, can be caused by increased intake of sodium (salt) in your diet, can be caused by dehydration. Make sure that you are taking in a balanced diet and staying hydrated. If you begin to feel dizzy during one of these episodes, get to a safe place and sit down, but make sure that you get to medical help.
I would go to the doctor's office, I mean that is what your private doctor is for..right?
i get em too and it's from my teeth.
consult your Dr. i just went through the same thing and had to be put on a seizure med to keep me from having them (don't have seizure but works for my type of migraines) you should not be waking up with head aches no matter how much stress you are under. for you to wake up with head aches indicates that something is wrong. This doesn't mean that there is something like a tumor or anything, my problem is something miner that will never go away but i do have to have a ct scan done every 6 months now. as bad as that sounds it is minor cause i saw my Dr and got it taken care of. good luck
