Information on Cannabis?

Question:
Information on cannabis - i need info on cannabis e.g. Whats the law on cannabis, what's THC, whats psychosis and any additional info? (its for cz work at school btw.)

Answers:
Ok...first the law on cannabis is that it has been moved from a class B drug to class C which technically means that although it has been re-classed to a less serious classification, it is still considered an illegal substance.

Before: CLASS B CANNABIS
Illegal.
If you are under 18, you will be arrested and given a formal warning.
Up to 5 years in jail for possession
Up to 14 years in jail for supplying or dealing

After: CLASS C CANNABIS
It's still illegal
If you are under 18, you will be arrested and given a formal warning
Up to 2 years in jail for possession
Up to 14 years in jail for supplying or dealing

As you can see, legally, contrary to public opinion there is actually little change with the reclassification!!

Secondly...THC or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol is the main ingredient in cannabis that affects the neurotransmitters and receptors of the brain...basically it gives you the 'high'

Thirdly..psychosis..there are some reports that indicate that cannabis especially stronger grades 'skunk' can induce psychotic episodes...paranoia,depression... schizophrenia, low self esteem, lethargy etc. There have been many studies into this claim with the outcome still being non conclusive....some studies say that cannabis brings out these effects in people predisposed to depression or from long term use from an early age but there are constant arguments on either case. One argument for the claims being dimissed is consideratio of the amount of people estimated to be using cannabis against the incidents of schizophrenia in UK today...to blame cannabis for every mental-disorder is simplistic!
