Has anyone here ever had Lasik eye surgery?

Question:
Any bad experiences? What's the healing time like?

Answers:
There are several different components that affect the risks and healing time. For example, there are different kinds of lasers, and different cornea cutting techniques. Plus the skill of the surgeon and the care of the facility to make sure your prescription is accurate are both important factors.

When I had lasik, I searched around and went to several facilities. I saw a lot of variation. Some facilities felt like surgery factories. They didn't care, just wanted to schedule your surgery and get you out. The one I went with felt like a research institution, where they really cared about the patient and getting the best results possible. They took the time to teach the patients all about the equipment and techniques to make the patients feel comfortable. It was more expensive upfront, but included all visits. Plus, the lack of complications is always a big time and money-saver.

Pain was ZERO and healing time was less than a day. I had to do eye drops and protect my eyes at night for about a week. It was very simple. But I attribute my ease with the procedure to doing research and being willing to pay more to get the least risk and best results.
You heal in about 3 days and can go back to work by then. However, over the years, you will feel uncomfortable around bright lights. Your eyes MAY go blind during the surgery (accidents happen). Talk to your optometrist for more info on lasik eye surgery because everyone's eyes are different.
