Why do ppl ask medical questions when they should go to the dr?

Question:
I can understand AFTER they see the doc, because some docs are in and out type ppl or it's a very embarrassing question. But why ask questions about symptoms BEFORE u see the doc? Doesn't common sense tell u to go if u think it's serious?

Answers:
i often wonder that myself, i think some questions are for attention, others want to have an idea of what is wrong before going to the doctor or reassurance that they need to go to the doctor, others want to do any thing to avoid going to the doctor, and others are trying to find support.
that being said, i find it scary some of the advice that i have read on here, even a top rate doctor should not give advice, without seeing the patient and knowing the complete medical history.

Other Answers:
It's just easier, okay?

exactly i like your attitude you tell them girl! becuz ppl are sometimes too lazy to go to the doc

I have found most ppl tend to avoid going to the doctors whenever they can so they try to self diagnose and have others help in doing so in order to skip the doc visit.

Ive been asking myself the same thing.
" My arm fell off.. what should i do?.. Hmm i know. ill go on yahoo questions theyll know"
Cmon

they are second guessing themselves and want to be reassured that it's not a serious problem.or they want to save money by not going at all i don't know, but i think it is unsafe, because they could get false information that could hurt them

they dont wanna pay!

i dont know. why do you ask stupid questions like that?

Many people cannot afford health insurance and some people are afraid of doctors. I agree that this not a good place to ask medical questions. because doctors wont tell you anything and people here might have had the same problem..

I think some people just want to know if they're the only person out there that has had the problem that they have. Maybe it makes them feel a little better knowing that they're not the only person that's had that problem.

Has it occured to you that some people are afraid of going to the doctor? Some may very well suspect what's wrong and don't want to acknowledge it or are just plain scared that the diagnosis may be what they suspect after all. Have some compassion.

Because they can pick and choose the answers that they want to hear, a doctor will usually tell it to you straight what is wrong, and you may not like to hear it, especially if it is catetrophic ,. or life threatning news. Trying to save a buck and hoping for a consensus answer sort of like ask the audience in "Who Wants to be a Millionaire"

There are a lot of people afraid of seeing a doctor, simply because of the fear of bad news. They probably think it's easier to just ask the people in here.but it's not very smart. Doctors have been trained to listen to your problems and then give you a diagnosis. There's always room for second or third opinions. But they surely aren't in here!

lots of times when i go to the doctor and tell him what i think is wrong with me and what i wonder would be a good treatment, sometimes he says ok, we can try that and sometimes he says, i don't think that would work for this, but this could be good- not for major stuff, but when you have something you've never experienced before, and somebody else has, it's good to have a starting point. just make the doctor visit before too long!

Doctors know nothing about nutrition. If you find one He or She is
rare unless they are nutritional doctors. All questions are not
really medical. We think they are but are not. 58 of the top
diseases can be reversed with nutrition as it was intended. For
example having cancerous cells in the body does not mean you
don't have enough Chemo or Radiation. I'm not saying you don't
need a doctor as you probably would say. My point is that
drugs are not needed for healing. That is the task of the immune system.
