Is your heart supposed to gulp?

Question:
It feels like my heart is gulping most of the time. It feels as if it is a gallon container and it is being turned upside down and is being emptied. It also starts beating extremely fast sometimes even when Im just standing or sitting and I feel as if I have run a marathon. Any ideas?

Answers:
Go get an EKG done by your doctor.what are you waiting for? A Heartattack?

Other Answers:
Anyone ever mention anything about a heart palpitation to you? Might want to havethat checked out, just in case.
Why haven't you gone to the dr. yet? This sounds like a serious heart problem (murmur or something like that). Go to the doctor and get some tests done. The fist tests aren't invasive so you don't need to be scared.
By the time you read this message you will probably have suffered a massive heart attack.
That is called an atrial flutter. Some could be serious, most often they can be caused by too much caffeine, anxiety (for sure), heart murrmur. Tell your doc to rule out any serious condition. I hope this helped.
Definitely go to the doctor. It may be nothing serious but it should be checked out, especially if you are getting chest pains, shortness of breath, or dizziness.
yea, you need to go see a heart specialist there are many reasons this could be happening.
I went to the doctor because my heart was feeling weird, and they hooked me up to machines. They said it was heart palpitations, but they said it was normal. My heart would speed up and slow down and beat really hard for no reason. I could also feel my heart beat in my body, like in my nose or a muscle in my arm. I think it was because of a sudden change in diet.
Apparently your heart problem is affecting the oxygen concentration in your blood and starving your brain. Why are you sitting there poking around on youqa.com worrying about something that could potentially be life-threatening instead of sitting if front of your doctor, (i.e.: someone qualified enough to actually be able to diagnose and provide you treatment) telling him/ her about the problem. That is what doctors are for. Get up off your butt and go!
go see a doctor in stead of asking us

DUH!!
It's an unusual symptom, but I've frequently experienced the same feeling during a siezure. When placed on a heart monitor, there were no measurable physical problems with my heart or circulatory system. For me, this is basically just a feeling, with no medical consequences, so I've learned to ignore it.
i've never heard of that
Dont u think u should see a doctor?
If you done have insurance find the board of health department in your city and go to the doc fast
no
I would suggest going to the doctor.
go c ur doctor
Are you very stressed? It could be a panic attack. Or if not that, you could be lacking potassium in your diet.
Definitely contact your doctor about it.
Get yourself to the Emergency Room pronto!
sounds as tho you are having heart palpatations go see your doctor could be having on set of angina attacks
I can relate to what you're asking, I've felt the same thing. You need to see a doctor so they can run some tests. Maybe it's nothing, but maybe it isn't, and if it's something that can be fixed and needs to be, the sooner the better. Don't mess around with the heart, dude. Call your doc and make an appointment.
