Safe to fly with an ear infection?

Question:
While visiting my family, I went to the doctor for an ear infection on friday. It was a pretty bad one I suppose. I was given 10 days of antibiotics. I'm scheduled to fly home on wednesday, and I'll have been on the meds for 6 days. Do you think its safe to fly? I have been told of the possibility of having the eardrum rupture from the pressure from other people that had infections. The doctor said I should be ok, but has anyone ever heard or experienced anything like it?

Answers:
I had an ear infection when I was younger and we took a flight to Florida. the take-off and landings hurt like you-know-what! The pressure was too much. I guess if the doctors says it is safe, then it is safe, but it might hurt!

Other Answers:
Dear, better postpone the flight at least for a couple of days..REcently I had a severe ear infection and it's not a joke at all..take care ..Good luck!
