My mother is 93, she has dementia. Her & my Dad live with us. She will not eat, I NEED help.?

Question:
I need suggestions on how and what to do.

Answers:
I hope you are ready to hear this, but she may be getting ready to die. Have you looked into nursing homes? When it gets to be too much for you to handle, you might want to look into hospice care, they help the patient and the family for the inevitable. But when a person stops eating, they have given up and are preparing to die. When looking at nursing homes, don't get freaked out by the price, because they usually don't stay too long. I'm going through this with my dad right now, actually he wants to go because he knows its getting too hard for mom to take care of him. Best wishes.

Other Answers:
My mother is a nurse and has told me that they usually give a feeding tube when someone doesn't eat. Talk to a doctor or bring her to the hospital and let them know the situation. I'm most positive that they can help her out. Good luck!
I would take her to her doctor. She may need a feeding tube. If she won't go, call and ask him/her for suggestions. Good luck to you!
She wants to die..They all reach that stage. You can force feed her but what is the point?
Call someone at the Alzheimer's association and ask if they can help you. First link below. Good luck.
