Baseball pitching and shoulder damage?

Question:
Hey guys, I'm a baseball pitcher for my school and my dad's friend told me he tore his bicept because he had some old damage from baseball in highschool. How do I prevent this damage? Does it heal over time? Because he said he still had it when he grew up (he's 46 now)

Answers:
Technique!

An athletic injury certainly can have repercussions throughout one's life. Using proper technique is the best way to prevent injury and it's short-term and long-term affects. Is it worth it to drop your arm for "just a few more pitches" in high school or would you rather use your shoulder for the next 70 years? Check your technique often with your coach and trainer. There's nothing as crucial as a good pitcher; the team will need you for the season, not just the night.
Injury to the rotator cuff of the arm and shoulder are common with this sport. If you do injure this area take proper time for healing and possible physical therapy to insure you don't get to the point of needing surgery.
