my son went to the doctor this morning and was put on zithromax he has an ear infection and URI and now I am concerned because he has been asleep for 5 hours and he is wheezing but the doctor said he had no pneumonia when should I start getting concerned and should I let him sleep it off? He is 12

Answers:
Well with the ear infection and URI he probably hasn't slept well at night. The sleep is good for him. As for the wheeze, the URI would cause this. Did the MD take a chest x-ray? if not I'd get one to r/o pneumonia. The Zithromax will helpwith the infection. If he gets worse do not hesitate to take him to the Dr. of ER if after doctor's hours.

Let him sleep. Probably didn't get much sleep last night. Just check on him but don't force him to get up. Rest is the best thing when you are sick.
