That happened to my friend at work actually. It was some time ago, she was using her exacto knife and it accidentally slipped on the underside of her finger. She said that she didn't actually notice until she looked down and blood was profusely pouring out. She went to the hospital and she said that needle hurt even more than her cutting herself.. And it was quite a big gash. Now she says every time she bends her finger a certain way there is a lot of tension there, and it feels as though it is going to rip open again.

I almost totally amputated my left index finger while trying to cut through some fabric with a pair of big scissors. I was almost nine months pregnant, so when they did the microsurgery to reattach the nerves they couldn't use any anesthetic. They did a Bier block, which is tying off the arm so the blood stops flowing and the arm feels like it has fallen asleep. It was fine until they let the block go, then the pain was awful. I'd have taken a pain shot if I could have though.
