what do i need to become a radiology tech?
Question:
Answers:
To my knowledge there are only 2 avenues to get there. One is the college based program that is only available at certain colleges. The other is private rad tech schools. Some are connected with a specific hospital and some are contracted with many hospitals. Both require some prerequists but I'm not sure exactly what. I've been out of school too long. Look up the ARRT society on the internet and see if they have a list of approved schools. PIMA institute in Chula Vista, CA has a school as does Mesa College in San Diego. Those are the only 2 that are here. You usually get an AA degree with the schooling.
It is usually a 24 month program. It can be broken into 3 yrs or 2 yrs straight.
Oh, the PIMA school is about $20,000.00. The college program is cheaper but is a lot harder to get into usually. Some hospitals have their own schools and that is usually the cheapest route to go and good also. They just work your butt off for 24 months. Good luck.
