How can i get rid of a canker sore?

Question:
what causes them? it looks like a red hole with a white rim.its in my son's mouth.

Answers:
We've had experience with these because of braces!

My Mom always had us swish salt water in our mouths. WARNING: this will sting! However, it seemed to settle down the sore & it would heal. We would do this several times a day & the sore would disappear quickly. My kids all did this too & it worked.
There are also over-the-counter remedies that you can get (ask your pharmacist) that will take away the pain & promote healing. One we have used, after the salt-water swish, is Zilactin.

Good luck!

Other Answers:
try any type of mouth wash. like listerine or scope maybe.

It's viral, check your son's hands and feet. Take him to a doctor those are painful, they can give him something to sooth and comfort him..

Brushing teeth if applies will help reduce 'em also, using a mouth wash, try something that is not too strong if you kid is little.

hope your little one feels better!

tell him to swish salt water around in his mouth. not sure what causes them but i get em all the time. the salt water shrinks it and gets rid of some of the pain 1. rinse several times a day with salt water.
2. Anbesol or any other topical treatment can help with the pain, along with Motrin or another anti inflammatory medication.
3. If it is on the outside, then Abreva works well.

he may have an ulcer in his mouth take him to the doctor he will give your son some meds that will numb it until it heals up my son had same problem it was very painful for him Put salt on it, You'll get rid of it less then a day.Mouthwash will work because it will get rid of bacteria so it wont get infected so do that after you wash your mouth, put salt on it.

I used to be plagued by canker sores, so rather than treat the symptom, let me tell you what I did to prevent them from coming back. I increased my intake of food-based antioxidants (not synthetic supplements). FYI, antioxidants can only be had through fruits and vegetables. If you don't like fruits and vegetables or can't get them fresh, check out PreventionProof.com Not only is their site a wealth of information, but everything is backed it up with credible research.not some doctor's endorsement who's "on the payroll". ;-) Good luck!
