If I've been exposed to strep throat, is there anything I can do to prevent getting it?

Question:
Would gargling with warm salt water help?

Answers:
Probably not, I would really do some things to boost your immune system. Power the Vit. C. It would be really really hard to OD on Vit. C so even 1000-3000 mg a day for a short period would be fine. What your body doesn't use, you will pee out. Go get some Echinecea and start using that. Eat healthy, stay away from sugar (sugar suppresses your immune system) and make sure you drink lots of good clean water.
The theory is, if you keep your immune system strong and you have been exposed to something your body has a better chance of fighting it off.
As to the warm salt water, that is really only for after you have a sore throat.
Good luck!

Other Answers:
you can but you need to check wit your doctor

yeah u can make chicken soup.the fat in the chicken will fight the strepthrought and u wont get it or at least u will feel much better. good luck don't share utensils with anybody that has it.

airborne pills in the cold medicine section, echenecia sp? vitamin C, Zinc, these can all help with boosting the immune system.

Take echinacea and golden seal. Also use Esther-C and zinc.

If you are in good health, the chances of fighting it are pretty good. Strep is a naturally occuring virus that is even found in the dirt. Immune boosters can help, i.e. echanacia, astragalus. Gargle with an antiseptic mouthwash if you want to gargle. My husband used to get strep every year, but I would rarely get it. Lysol your doorknobs, phones, etc. if they were or are in your home.
