Unable to Obtain a Full Breath?

Question:
I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced what I have currently been experiencing since early September. I have this struggle where sometimes I cannot obtain a full breathe. I can breathe alright, but when I get to the very end of the big breath it just stops and won't go any further. It's rather annoying. I'm extremely anxious, high-strung, and stressed. Perhaps this could contribute to my situation? I am such a worry-wart that this situation currently has me on edge and fearing my life.. as usual.

Answers:
You pretty much answered your own question. That happens when you are stressed, and then you get stressed because it happens. It's a vicious cycle. Being anxious makes your heart beat faster, which makes you feel out of breath, and you're pushing your lungs to contain more air than it can or it needs. I have experienced that from the time I was around 5 or 6 years old. I am now 29 and still alive. It still annoys me when it happens, but because I'm so familiar with it and know that it won't kill me, I try not to let that add on to my stress. Don't be surprised if sometimes your airways constrict and it feels like you're having a hard time breathing at all. You're still getting enough air, it just feels like you aren't. Try to not to force deep breaths even though you *feel* like you need them, and just loosen all of your muscles while concentrating on taking several shallower breaths. Then "reward" yourself with a somewhat deeper one. Start again and try to space the deep breaths more and more, and you'll feel less and less as though you have to. You really need to find ways to relax, and if stress is really reducing your quality of life, talk to your doctor about medication.

Also, your lungs can take a few days to recover after you've been pushing in that way, which just means that it can continue for a bit even though you're no longer stressed. Again, NOT dangerous.
It happens with anxiety. If your too worried, go see your doctor.
