My urine is dark and has a strong smell, some minor burning but not peeing as much?

Question:
What could this be a urinary tract infection or kindey infection and what can i do at home until i see my doctor? My appt isn't until Monday. Thanks!

Answers:
If your urine is very dark, then this is a sign of heavy bleeding and needs to be checked out immediately. Blood in the urine can be caused by many things including trauma, stones, infections, prostate problems, and obstructions of the urinary tract. If it is a UTI, it is helpful to drink plenty of water, and as someone mentioned earlier you can use AZO for the pain. AZO though can only be used for a maximum of 2 days.

Other Answers:
there is something over the counter called azo get that for now
lots of fluids
you have a UTI if you have ANY back pain or abdominal cramping go to the doctor and he will give you some antibiotics for you to get you better fast
There are amny different things that can cause such discomfort from vitamin deficiency to kidney malfunction to prostate infection..see a doctor as soon as you can!
I think your best bet would be to drink LOTS of water. If your urine is a dark color, usually that means you aren't drinking enough to keep your kidneys flushed out.

Another good thing to help would be to drink a ton of cranberry juice. That really helps with kidney problems/ UTI's.
Drink glass after glass of water..
also ocean spray has cran-apple juice thats good.
You are dehydrating yourself if your urine is that dark and you're not urinating as much. Force your fluids considerably, no sodas, stay off of the junk food and lower your salt intake. This should make your urine more normal in color.

Of course it could be a very serious problem, but see if the above works before you start thinking the worst.

Good luck.
Drink plenty of water and or cranberry juice. Usually when the urine is dark you are not drinking enough water. If it is burning that can indicate that you have a UTI/bladder infection. Cranberry juice will help with this also.
Drink as much water as you can, and also drink cranberry juice. It helps clean things out. It's worth a try. Good luck.
