What is the deeper meaning of obsessive-compulsive disorder?

Question:
Does it mean you are a nervous person, insecure....going beyond the basics, what can be read deeper into it?

Answers:
A lot of psychologist believe this disorder stems from the way potty training ocurred. It is when a child first realizes they create something that is not pleasant.

How much of that is true, who knows? OCD in an adult is lack of control over the world. Germs are bad, disorder (i.e. messy home) is bad, grass is bad (might have germs), driving is bad (wrecks are messy), going over bridges is bad (don't really know for sure if the bridge will hold), being touched by other humans is bad (people can't possible meet the clean standards of the average OCD individual), and the list goes on and on.

Basically, it stems from the primal part of the brain that is fear based. OCD is deeply rooted in the human mind. The fear triggers an almost involuntary response to fight or fly, so to speak. The cleaning and odd behavior is a manifestation caused by the fear.

Control is just one of many things OCD people strive for. I feel anyone with OCD is ultimately striving for peace, but they can not shut off their minds to the world as "normal" thinkers can. There are medications that help stabilize the chemical imbalances that show in the mind of an OCD person. So, OCD patients not only suffer from psychological issue, but from a physical (mental) chemical imbalance.

Anyway,

Good Luck and Take Care
Its an attempt to gain control over a world that is beyond our control...so yes it is a symptom of insecurity.
