Sternum Injury?

Question:

My 9 year old fell off her bed hard directly landing on her back a week ago yesterday and immediatly complained of chest pain and back pain between her shoulder blades. She fell so hard she knocked the wind out of herself. My concern at this point is her chest pain because she is having a hard time sleeping and the pain in her chest is very sensative to the touch and Tylenol is not working for the pain. Could she have bruised her Sternum and if so, what can be done for it? I'm worried because I had to put ice packs on her chest to just get her comfortable to sleep last night. I thought with time, the pain would be less but that is not the case. Should I take her for xrays or would that not do any good ?

take her to the ER. chest pain is not somthing to mess with
