I have a health class problem?

Question:
Today i almost fainted in my health class we were just talking about blood and the heart and stuff. i know we're gonna be talking about that a lot this year. i told my brother and he said he had the same problem so im guessing its genetic. What can i do? what causes this?

Answers:
I can't give you a very scientific or logical reason for this, but I can give you a name for it - heamophobia. Basically it's a fear of blood. There are some people who believe that it can be cured by hypnosis & others believe you simply have to overcome it in your mind just like any other fear. You should try seeing the stuff you discuss in class as part of another being & that it has nothing to do with you. Maybe that'll help? Also the fainting feeling happens due to a drop in blood pressure, which is characteristic of shock. Just try regulate your breathing. It's not really that bad.
This isn't genetic. It's a matter of desensitizing yourself through constant exposure. Some people just react this way. You can help yourself by looking at photos of the human organs and by talking about blood. If you really want an extreme technique, pick up a beef heart at the market and handle it and dissect it at home. Wear gloves in you have them and be sure to wash your hands well afterward.

As I've never had this problem (I love gore!), I can speak only objectively.
All you can do is take a few deep breaths. Brace yourself and tell yourself that the teacher will stop talking soon. I almost passed out when I saw my first I.V. put in. I am a fainter and I am in nursing school and on my way to becoming a doctor. You can get through it. I am fighting my way through all the nasty stuff in my classes. You can do it!
