Are there side effects to stopping Nexium?

Question:
My health insurance max is reached and I can't afford my Nexium. I have been off of it for a week and now have severe stomach cramps, pain, nausea, heartburn and diarrhea. Is this a result of stopping cold? Is this how my stomach is normally without acid blockers? Or is this unrelated?
How to I get through the next three weeks when my health insurance covers prescriptions again?

Answers:
I'm on Nexium. That is how you feel when you are off of it when it is no longer blocking acid. I have been taking it for 8 months. I take it twice a day. Pool your money & get more of it!

Other Answers:
I heard from someone (not a doctor) that once you're on Nexium, your body adapts and if you stop taking it, your heartburn will be worse than it was originally.

Regarding your prescriptions, it might be good to call your doctor or hospital to see what they would recommend regarding getting the prescriptions filled if you can't afford your medications. Maybe they have some recommendations or resources.
Your story is scary and so close....I just took my last Nexium 40 mg capsule last night. However, My Dr. office gave me 30 days worth of Protonix. My mother also has Prilosec OTC too. It is my hope that I can get off of Nexium altogether. If I get any of the symptoms you are facing now, my only hope is to pray for a miracle.
