Currently scientists are trying to come up with more potent effective vaccines. the ones in the market last for a short time and then one gets infected again when bitten by a female anopheles mosquito.
Its been noted however that once infected with the malaria parasites, some people develop immunity for longer durations.
Its encouraged however that one takes prophylactic drugs when going to endemic areas. some of the drugs are Doxycycline, larium, mefloquin etc
There are tablets to be taken before and after visiting an area at risk, more people die from Malaria than any other illness.
