I had my gallbladder out last year. I suffered for about 3 months not knowing what it was and finally i became so sick my partner took me to the emergency department where they gave me an ultrasound only to find a large stone blocking the entrance to my gallbladder. I stayed in hospital and was operated on the next morning and believe me I felt instant relief when I woke up from surgery. No pain and felt wonderful. I had it done by key hole surgery so all i have are three little tiny scars, hardly noticable. If you definitely know that is what is wrong with you, you must have it done..you will feel like a million dollars when u wake up. Poppet from Australia

no, unless they are causing discomfort or other side effects.. If you are having gallbladder attacks, then you should have the surgery. I promise you will feel a million times better. If you let it go too long the stones can get into the duct and cause a huge problem.

It's not always necessary, but oftentimes it will save you from a lot of pain and more than likely surgery in the future. My daddy, sister and brother have all had theirs out and after you heal from the surgery, which doesn't take long, then you have zero problems. It's easier to just do the surgery and get it over with.

Take it from some one who had the surgery done. It is deffiently worth getting the surgery done. I was mis-treated for 2 year's before they figured out what was wrong with me, my gallbaldder was twice it's size and I had over 40 gall stone's in my stomach. It is very uncomfortable to do with.
