is it against the law in michigan to take someone elses perscription if its just amoxicillin?

It's just as illegal as taking street drugs and it isn't too smart. You could be allergic, it may be too strong or not strong enough. You may not need it. Since it works by stopping the growth of bacteria, you could be setting your self up to get very sick by killing the good bacteria. It can interact with other meds or vitamins, and the side effects can be devastating.
You don't KNOW that you need an antibiotic or if that is the right one to take even if you do need one. That's why you should see a doctor. Let the doctor diagnose what you have and prescribe what you need--could be a totally different medication.
