Question: My step-father recently had an ICD implanted. What precautions does he need to observe? Where is the best place to find this information?

The best place to find information about the devices and how to live with them is the manufacturer's website. Guidant, Medtronic, St.Jude, are some of the top ones. Find out what manufacturer made the device, and do a yahoo search to find their website. Another good place to find good info, is ICDSUPPORTGROUP.ORG, and ZAPLIFE.ORG. These are support groups for people who have ICD's or are expecting one.
