How do you treat an ear ache without going to the Dr.?

Question:
I get little ear aches throughout the day. it goes away for a few days then returns. What the heck?

Answers:
It depends on what's causing it. If it is from wax buildup, the warm oil or sweet oil is great because it loosens it up. (Don't use Q-Tips!) Like others here, I am guessing you are dealing with a "swimmer's ear". when water gets trapped in your ear tubes. The swelling can cause mild pain, which gets worse if it becomes infected. There are drops in the store that help prevent that, but if your tubes are small (and they may be, since you are having so much trouble) the drops may be a hassle. My doctor recommended blow-drying my hair after showers and tub baths. **If it doesn't clear up completely after a couple of weeks, you really should go to the doctor. Even if you just have a mild infection, it should be treated with antibiotics because ear and tooth infections can VERY rarely carry to the brain. Not worth the risk, imho.

They have an over the counter ear ache medicine call Similisan. That's supposed to help. That and Advil or tylenol

I've found it effective to pour a little warm oil in my ear when it hurts. It shouldn't be too warm, or you'll scald yourself. What feels only lukewarm to the fingertip is hot enough. Pour it in, hold it for a second, then let it drain out. I have purchased over the counter ear drops. But if you can warm them up before you use them, it doesnt feel so awful putting them in your ears. Good Luck

If you have 'swimers ear', (just some water settled/trapped in your ear) they sell remedies at any store/pharmacy. Some people also drip some alcohol or hydrogen peroxide in there to help dry it out.

But if it is an INFECTION of the inner ear.you need to see a doc, and get a perscription for an oral antibiotic. If the pain is recurring, consider seeing an ENT (Ear Nose Throat) doctor. They are specialists and can see and diagnose what other docs can't treat.

garllic oil, helps kill the infection.mullien oil helps with the pain.any great herb shop should carry both.you can also use collodial silver in the ear it kills all bacteria as well.i sell at my store something called an ear pill it has a pouch that you heat up in the microwave and then yoiu put it in the pillow it helps draw out the moisture in the ear
