does a hospital have to admit you if you have no insurance?

Question:

Answers:
Depends if the hospital is community or private owned. If you come in on an ambulance they will take you at either. If it is private owned at times they will turn you away or require upfront payment. A community hospital takes all no matter what.

Other Answers:
Oh yes they do have to accept you as a patient. It is called the hypocratic oath.

Now what they can do as soon as you are "Stable" they can ship you to the nearest state mental facility. However they have to keep you for 5 days.

Most of the time. yes, they have to. They are not supposed to deny care if you cannot pay. they will send you a bill after. They will try to admit you but if you walk out or refuse treatment it's nothing they can do. While the patient is admitted the will try to help the patient get coverage medicaid, charity care etc.

depending on the hospital some will not take you if you don't have insurance. And some will take you no matter what. And to stay in the hospital is your decision they can't make you . Unless you are under age then it's up to you parents.

If you are suicidal you can be admitted on a 302 mental involuntary admission.
