I am 33 and for as long as i remember i chew and bite the inside of my mouth and continually take chunks HELP?

Please Help?!?

Answers:
My dentists just told me off for that. I told him that I don't do it on purpose and he said once you have bitten it, it stays inflammed so the chances of you doing it again is very high. I have some nasty scars apparently.

Once you have bitten it, get some ice on it to reduce the inflammation and hopefully you won't to it again (for a while).

That is of course, if you are doing it accidently - if not, sorry I can't help.

Do you actually take such big chunks that you bleed? Coz if not don't worry about it.

If it doesn't bleed then you will basically be just removing old / dead skin. not really a problem. But if you are worried then go to the doctor, ask for some medical advice

can a lower back injury cause knee to swell?

I do it too.

It's fairly common and is known as compulsive cheek chewing.

So long as you're not causing serious open wounds, it shouldn't really be a problem

It can cause mouth ulcers though..

Head Cold Cures?

"Don't open your mouth so wide when you're chewing." I know this sounds so simple and ridiculous. That's what I thought when my husband said it to me last year. It worked. We've been married for 32 years tomorrow. I've been biting chunks out of my cheek for as long as I can remember. It only took him 32 years to say something.

Would like to discontinue taking Oxycontin that is prescribed for my severe back pain.Has anyone been able to?
