I have a really sharp pain on my side right below my rib cage. What could it be?

Question:
I woke up this morning with a really sharp pain in my side. I did nothing earlier that day that could have caused it but sat on my butt. It hurts to walk, twist, and bend down. i had to miss my fastpitch play-offs tonight due to the severity of the pain.
What in the world could have caused this and what could in be.

Answers:
Dude u need to see a Doc. Go get an x-ray result and can accurately tell you what is the problem. No point spectulating about..
Myself have experienced sharp pain on simular area. Pain would drag for many mths. On and off. I play soccer a lot. Once during a game i realised i have some difficulty doing short sprints. The much twisting of hips when i run triggers the pain. When to see a doc and x-ray shows my backbone is actually missing on one tiny part. How ridiculous! According to him the pain occurs cus of lack of sleep n rest. I am also advised to stop my weight lifting regime.. sigh.
The pain has not occured since i took proper care of myself. Don't let this happen to u dude

kidney stone

I think it's Gas. Maybe a gas bubble. Try dinking an Alka-Seltzer or a Sprite.

If it's the lower quadrant, you could have appendicitis. Upper quadrant with nausea, could be your gal bladder. Go see a Dr.!

It depends.if it's on your right side it could be your appendix.

gall bladder and have you pulled a muscle or worked out harder then you did before if it is not any better get to the er. rooom so they can check it out. if your hurting that bad go to the er. If it's on your upper-right side then it could be your gallbladder

Person who said kidney stone - not!! That is left or right lower back and it hurts like hell!!

I get that when my diaphragm muscle is spastic from breathing too shallowly (usually due to poor air and GAS pains). Try Pepcid AC complete. Of course, seeing a doctor is usually the best course of action.

pain from appendicitis would begin on the left side usually, even though your appendix is on the right.. pain under your right rib cage could be gas, a pulled muscle or a gallbladder attack.. best to see your doctor if it persists.. could be your gall bladder. What did you eat yesterday? anything spicy of fried?how about fatty foods?
