How do you know when you are sleeping too much?


Question:
I easily sleep 8 or 9 hours a night and on the weekends I can sleep 10 to 11 hours. I have always been like this so don't think I am sick but wonder if there is a danger in sleeping too much. I watch what I eat, exercise, limit alcohol, and hydrate. Any ideas?

Answers:
I have a similar sleep pattern, and sometimes left to my own devices can sleep up to 13 hours! I just found out that my iron is pretty low. That may have something to do with it. You may just be someone who needs a lot of sleep (it varies as much as jean size from person to person!) but it wouldn't hurt to see your doctor in case a vitamin deficiency or thyroid problem is involved.
from what i heard if you sleep too much it can be bad for your heart. if you wake up sleeply still after a full nights rest can be a sign too. but everyone is different, and i love sleep myself.
