i was running full sprint, my knee poped twice i fell to the ground, its swollen now, pain on the sides? MCL?

Question:
i am going to the doc, but what should i expect

Answers:
Your doing the right thing by going to the Dr. He will take X-Rays and do an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.I hurt my knee playing sandlot football when I was 20 years old and didn,t have surgery and now I,m 45 and had so much trouble that I had to have surgery a month ago. I had some loose cartilage removed and it is a lot better now but I wish that I would have had surgery on it at the time of the injury. I now have the beginnings or arthritis and the Dr. says I will need to have cortisone injections 2 or 3 times a year to keep it flexible. And he says some day I will probably have to have an artificial knee joint. So by all means get it checked and repaired now!!!!
MCL is only on the inside of your leg.
If it swollen on both sides, I would expect the worst, that the ACL is torn.
Anything less than that is better news than the ACL being torn, which means surgery, and long term physical therapy.
Expect the worst, hope for the best.
Torn ligaments, or stretched out MCL/LCL are the best.
Expect Xray and MRI
Joint pain or stiffness of the joint may be caused by overexertion, injuries, arthritis, muscle pain, bursitis and other diseases. Depending on the cause of the joint pain, joints on both sides of the body and small or large joints may be affected. Some types of joint pains can be completely cured but for other types of joint pain (like pain caused by osteoarthritis), treatment will only reduce the pain.
