Help PLEASE!!?

Question:
I just hyperextended my knee yesterday and it hurts a lot and is really swollen. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do this summer or to cheer me up? Should I quit gymnastics I,m in level nine and I would hate to injure myself like this again.

Answers:
Take a break from the gymnastics for a while. Get yourself a knee brace and talk to your doctor. I would walk as little as possible until things improve. But take heart; these things only last a month or so. And think of the possibilities! You have a legitimate excuse from any sort of chores, you can probably get a temporary 'handicapped' permit (if you drive), exemptions from lines (My mother had something similar happen to her a few years back; when we went to Disneyland that summer, we were allowed to skip any and all lines for the rides), and probably a dozen other things that I'm not thinking of.

Other Answers:
Ow! That sounds painful!

I never got into gymnastics, but those are among my favorite olympics to watch.

You'll want to treat it like a sprain: Ice it and gently keep it moving so you won't stiffen up. A doctor who specializes in sports injuries could help you more.

Good luck!
ouch! Find out what you did wrong and learn from it.

You don't need to give up. The best olympic gymnists have injured themselves too. But they kept their human spirits to move on.

If the injury prevents you from continuing gymnastics, then thats a different story.
i suppose you are female
ladies are prone to hyper extension injuries, due to inherent ligament laxity.

take rest. get your knee assessed by an arthroscopic surgeon(clinically)
to exclude ligament injury.

before going back to gymnastics, join a good gym, build up your hamstrings, and your quads.

then get back at it- good luck

contact me if you want.
