Does being cold lower your resistance, thus making it easier for you to get sick?

Question:
I've heard this is an old wives' tale but it seems somewhat logical to me.

Answers:
A recent study confirmed your theory.

It is particularly the case when the feet or hads are cold.

Of course, like someone said, it is not the coldness alone which makes you ill, but, like you said, your "resistance" is somehow lowered (I think it is that the immune response is slower) and that makes you more vulnerable to any pathogen.

it might 4 a while you think

Nope, evidence shows that being cold does not allow you to catch a cold, we catch a cold because it is our bodies telling us that we are run down and need more rest!! - its when our immune system becomes weak Being in cold weather without proper clothing for long periods can raise your blood pressure and ultimately cause exposure which can be deadly. If you have high blood pressure be careful with the air conditioning in your home. But cold weather or walking in the rain does not cause anyone to catch a cold or the flu. Germs cause colds, so wash your hands and stay away from people who are sick.
