I've had friends that had that procedure done. They turned out fine. You'll be okay.
it kinda sucks but its not horrible, youre sore for a week or two and will probably just be able to eat malts and jello and stuff. lots of people have had it done, they all got through it so will you. your voice doesnt change permantly but itll be hoarse for a week or two.
Stay calm and it won't hurt because you won't be awake. It won't change your voice at all.
your throat will probably be sore but they should give you medication for that and yes your voice may change.
it's different for everybody. Just go into with a positive attitude and focus on getting well afterward and you'll do great.
I had mine out as an adult which is supposed to suck and it really wasn't that bad.
Like I said, just focus on the positive and that'll make all of the difference.
I was 19 when I had mine out! I dont think my voice changed.
your throat will be sore for a bit!! but you get lots of ice cream etc.
well i had both of mine taken out but i was 28 years old and it hurt bad. but they say the younger you are the less they hurt, just make sure when there done and you wake up tell them to give you some strong pain killer.
don't be scared - it will hurt, but it won't be real bad - and you get all the ice cream you want. and no your voice will not change. Since you are concerned talk to your family and your doctor. good luck
I had the same procedure when I was a kid, it doesnt hurt real bad, a bit like a sore throat for a few days and a bit snuffed up, best part is they give ya ice-cream to eat after. lol
You really don't have to be scared. It's a relatively painless operation. Although you will experience some tenderness while healing. Your voice will not change.
u are going to sound like a weirdo!
It's nothing to worry about. It's like having a bad sore throat but it only takes a few days till it feels better. I don't think my voice changed. You'll be fine, stop worrying.and enjoy the ice cream they'll give you!
you will be fine!nope it doesnt hurt!your throat will be a little sore after, but i imagine its more sore right now if they are taking them out!you voice wont change at all until you get older!and it wont be from getting your tonsils out!dont be scared!everything will be okay!god bless you!
Your voice changes
Aww, honey, surgery can be a scary thing, but really it won't be that bad for you at all. I can't say that I"ve had my tonsils taken out, but I've had other surgeries and getting yourself all hyped up about it is actually worse than going through actual surgery. I had my first surgery when I was 17, and I was petrified, but after it was over it was nothing really. It didn't even really hurt at all, I was sore of course, but not to the point where I couldn't survive. The doctors and nurses take good care of you and will give you lots of pain medicine. My grandmother was 65 when she had her first surgery on her back and she was scared out of her mind, but the next day, she was just like me.it wasn't bad at all. Just settle down, relax, and you will be fine! The next day you will wonder why you made such a big deal out of it. Looks like you will be getting all the ice cream and popsickles you can eat.
Hi there! I have worked in a pediatric operating room (I've seen many kids have their tonsils out). Any time you have surgery of any kind it hurts a little bit. But you will not feel anything when they actually do the surgery. You will probably get a little bit of "giggle juice" before you go into surgery. This makes you feel very relaxed and a little bit tired. When you go into the operating room, there may be lots of people around and there will be big lights and a big table which you will get on. Then they will put a mask over your nose and mouth and they'll tell you to take some deep breaths. This will make you fall asleep and the next thing you know, you'll be in the wake-up room and the surgery will be over. You will not feel any pain during the surgery. You will most likely have a sore throat after the surgery. Cold drinks like slushies help this. You may talk funny for a little bit after the surgery because your talking muscles are a little bit tired after the surgery too. This will go away though. You won't talk funny forever. Please don't get real worried about this surgery. The doctors and nurses are going to take very good care of you and make sure things go well from the time you get to the hospital to the time you go home. Your main job is to relax and heal. Good luck with the surgery!
Try to remember that millions of ppl have had this procedure done an they r doin just fine! Good luck!
hey you get all the milkshakes you can handle and don't be scared of the voice thing you wont wind up sounding like you have emphysema your 13 your voice hasn't grown to fit you yet so you don't even know what you true voice is.
but i can tell you some singers have gone thru this and sell out concerts just make sure you make them check you after surgery now days the attention is gone tell them every shift change to check for infection! that is the thing to be scared for not surgery itself!
I had my tonsils out when I was 16. My voice didn't change. My son had his out when he was 13. His voice is changing like it should. It does hurt when you wake up but if you take your pain medicine on schedule it won't be too bad. Make sure you drink lots of fluids. This keeps your throat moist and helps it heal faster. Ice cream, popsicles and such are great too. Check with your doctor about what foods to avoid. Anything with acid in it, like tomato sauce, will hurt. So will anything crunchy like chips and raw vegetables. They can also make your throat bleed.
Good luck with your surgery. I haven't been as sick since I had mine out (I'm 40 now) and neither has my son. Just make sure to follow your doctor's instructions and you'll get along fine.
