Here in the Gambia, West Africa, both men and women are circumcised.
Religious reasons?
Not only muslims are circumcised for religious reasons. Jewish boys are circumcised as well. (not jewish girls)

Islam dictates circumcision for boys, yes, but not girls. it's really an African custom that girls are circumcised, and somehow religion got involved. In Somalia, East Africa, they are battling very hard to stop circumcision of girls, but cultural beliefs are very hard to change. some men believe that uncircumcised girls are unmarriageable.

Apart from religious reasons, a small minority of boys suffer from extremely tight foreskins, which can be extremely painful. Circumcision is recommended in these cases, for health reasons. Some people state that circumcised boys are more hygenic.
