Can this be cause my tmg as i suffer from this, or is it from painfully craking my neck all the time and it is catching up with me. Does anyone have any advice. please help

Answers:
I am a Neuromuscular Therapist.

I find that the vast majority of pain, neck or otherwise, is caused by overly tight muscles. TMJ Dysfunction is almost always caused by hypertonic (overly tight) muscles in the neck, shoulders, back and even the pelvis. The resulting muscular imbalances and postural distortions misalign the mandibular condyles of the TMJ and cause the familiar clicking, popping and pain. My guess is that you've had a whiplash or similar cervical injury sometime in the past and your recent infections and root canals have irritated neck muscles that were already badly injured and hypertonic to begin with, although you probably were unaware of it because you had no pain.

The simplest suggestion I can give you is to see a muscle specialist, specifically a Neuromuscular Therapist. These highly trained advanced massage therapists can release the involved muscles causing your pain and can correct other muscular imbalances contributing to your pain patterns. Hypertonic muscles in the anterior neck like the longus colli, longus capitis, scalenes, sternocleidomastoid and muscles of the jaw can cause anything from TMJ Dysfunction and headaches to loss of the normal cervical spine curve. Releasing these muscles allows the vertebrae and other bones to settle to a normal position. Chiropractic adjustments may help temporarily but you'll experience far more permanent results by releasing the muscles that are causing the problem in the first place.
i walk with a stiff neck 4 many many moons.. and the doctor, always gave me muscle relaxers.. years went by and i just couldn't move my neck from side 2 side.. decided 2 see a chiropractor.. and all is well now.. its been about 15 years and still doing great : ) try one and see..
