Taking prescribed medication in to saudi?

Question:
i am on prescribed medication including codeine and a synthetic type of morphine, for pain , i would like to know if a letter from my doctor in the uk is enough

Answers:
Need to make sure that the medications are in their original bottles with your name and date-of-birth on them. A letter would be good and the doctor on the letter MUST match the prescribing doctor on your labels.
not long ago a woman took codeine.to Saudi and i think she had a doctors note.and she add big trouble.i think it took two years to reslove.so be careful
This page tells you about advice for travellers going to Saudi Arabia. Especially check the "Local Laws and Customs" section:
http://www.fco.gov.uk/servlet/front?page.

The following two lines probably apply most to you:
- The punishment for importing drugs includes the death penalty. You should not arrive in Saudi Arabia under the influence of alcohol: the consequences could be serious. You should carry with you a doctor’s prescription for any medication you have with you.

- The importation and use of narcotics, alcohol, pork products and religious books (apart from the Qu'ran) and artefacts are forbidden.

Seeing as synthetic morphine and codeine are both considered narcotics, your best bet is to get in contact with the Foreign Office (follow the "Contact Us" link in the sidebar of the above page) and ask for specific advice. You need to be very very careful as a lot of things that are perfectly legal here carry the death penalty in Saudi Arabia.
