Because of the cost of a brace that may or may not work,try wrapping the knee with a large ACE bandage.
Start wrapping above the knee and finish below the knee. You can use 2 ACE's if you need to.
Pain is a great motivator and the body's way of trying to tell you to quit what you are doing. . . .get into enough pain and you WILL quit bending your knee and sitting on it.
