I developed a BAD habit.?

Question:
I drink nyquil everynight to fall asleep. I'm having some problems with my "daily" life and think about too much and can't sleep. Now the dosage I drink has doubled and almost tripled. Any suggestions as to what I should do? Other then seeing a doctor.

Answers:
I got hooked on Nyquil for a month or two myself. I used to use it because I couldn't go to sleep at night and I knew I had to wake up early for work. Your right though after a while, your body builds a tolerance to it, so you have to increase the dosage to get the same effect. I know its bad to substitute one evil over another but to combat this I started smoking a lil bit of "weed" at night.

I then thought well shi* this isn’t right either, so I started listening to meditation tapes about an hour before I went to bed. I would take a nice hot shower, (have an orgasm by means of sex or masturbation) and also make sure to avoid all forms of caffeine past a certain time in the day. Avoid chocolates and sugar too might help a bit. After about a week of doing this I didn’t need Nyquil again..

Good luck=)

OH YEAH: If all else fails find a really boring guy to talk to at night on the phone, might help too lolz..

Other Answers:
how about stopping ? or is that not possible ? you might consider AA or NA for support. and you need to seek therapy to resolve the issues that are behind this.

sit on the bed
pray to GOD
and think as you are sleeping in HIS lap
Believe me. it helps.

It sounds like you are addicted. Just because it is over the counter medicine doesnt mean you cant get addicted. You need to go see your doctor and get off that stuff. It isnt good for you to do that to yourself any more. try AA or NA

That can be deadly. Nyquil is medicine for colds, if you don't have a cold, you shouldn't be taking it. Seek HELP!

The truth is alcoholics will drink Nyquil when they don't have anything else for that purpose. But I admit - I did have some sinus problems for a while and I was taking it way too much and just stopped taking it so..maybe just lay off it for today and then tomorrow and then..

AAA.or try switching to Tylnol PM it's not suppse to be adictive. Stop drinking it eventually the dosage will be too high and you might not wake up. If you cant sleep try voiding everything else and concentrate on your body and try to relax every muscle from your feet to your head one at a time

yes u did devolop a bad habit. yr obviously addicted to this and that is y yr body is craving for more of this. the syptoms for this craving are that u can not focus and u cant not sleep. well i suppose u can quit and try alternative methods of falling asleep.

Nyquil no longer contains alcohol BUT, you need to just quit and pray.

stop immediately . you are causing great harm to your body. why are you afraid to consult a doctor? Okay, you don't want to go to the doctor. Try diluting the medicine with water, increasing the water each day, until you are drinking water each night. Before you do this pray and ask for God's help in over coming this very real problem. If after three weeks of not coming off of the medicine. It is time to reconsider the visit to the doctor. If you are worried that He/She will tell someone they are under oath not to discuss your medical history with anyone. Good luck and God bless!

Somehow you need to get to the root of your problems..easier said than done I know.maybe close your eyes and like meditate..ask yourself what is bothering me? and make changes

Talk to your doctor. He might be able to prescribe something specifically for sleep. First, I would try some behavior modification, stop taking the NyQuil and suffer through the night, make sure you don't sleep in and have a busy day planned following your rough night. i bet you'll sleep that night.

just have lots of sex, you'll be fine
