Becareful how much you take in. Too many vitamins CAN hurt you. Here's some good cures:
Green papaya extract
raw ginger boiled in water (drink as a tea)
cat's claw (herb)
crocidile protein peptide
homeopathic remedies
infared saunas
and the sun has been proven to help get rid of colds but the FDA doesn't want you to know that.
Also avoid acidy foods. O.J. is not a great way to get your vitamin c when you have a cold or the flu. Drink apple juice, broth, teas, basically anything clear liquids and not full of acid. I work in the kitchen of a healthcare facility so I KNOW what I'm talking about.
Also avoid prescription and nonprescription drugs that help "cure" colds. The FDA is becomming more and more proven to want you to stay sick and keep getting sick. Drugs are NOT the answer to most if not ALL health problems.

I've always had good results from eating lots of hot meals, especially chicken soup. Follow that with hot tea containing lemon and honey or a capfull of brandy. Helps clear the congestion.
Drink lots of fluids, including water and OJ. Pop an extra 1000mg of vitamin C and you'll be right as rain.
This, of course, is only my method.
Drink lots of fluid, as many have suggested. And I suggest drinking them warm or hot. Eat plenty of fruits or drink juice (remember, don't drink them cold. set it outside until the temperature reaches room temperature.) Eat some meat products. drink herbal tea. use pepper & dry ginger in your diet. don't drink very cold drinks. if u r an indiad i can give u a recipe for a drink which is very good for cold. mik a table spoon of coriander seeds .,jeera, one teasp of dry ginger &pepper roast them lightly & powder it. take 2 glasses of water put this powder & boil till the water reduses to one glass. put some honey & milk & drink this before going to bed. it gives u a lot of relief . u can drink this twice a say if u have severe cold.
as far as Indian systems are concerned one should take rest taking light semi solid type of food In the sense a correct perfect blend of carbohydrates and proteins without getting an idea of your place how can a doctor suggest it?
