Is it true that when you have....?

Question:
a sore throat and a cold you're not supposed to drink or eat cold stuff? and why is this so?

Answers:
Ever notice how warm water in the shower loosens up the mucus in your nose and throat? It's the same principle in use when one drinks warm soup or tea instead of eating ice cream while they've got a sinus infection and sore throat. Next time you or your child have a very stuffy nose, try this to see it in action: Get a wash cloth very warm (not hot) and put it up to and on the nose and sinus area. The relief should be almost immediate! If you put a cold wash cloth to your face, there would be some pain and no relief at all. So it's not that you shouldn't have cold food while sick, but it's better to have warm.
if you have a cold you still need to keep the fluids up (warm or cold)... maybe it's an old wives tale but I hear the only thing you shouldn't consume is dairy products - milk, yogurt... because they thicken the mucus in your throat.
