Wrist fusion?

Question:
A missed torn ligament in the center of my wrist is now gone and I had 4 bones removed instead of a fusion. Has anyone here had a bone fusion done on their wrist? I cannot twist my wrist under any kind of strain and may need to have the wrist fused for stability. Would like to know if anyone has had the fusion done to alleviate pain on the side of the wrist. Thank you.

Answers:
I don't know about the wrist, but my ex-husband had an accident many years ago and the bones in his foot were too badly broken to repair. So they fused the top of the foot, where the bones lead to the toes.. It didn't work, he has had the operation done 3 times since and it still hasn't worked.

The pain was not alleviated, for him, but then it is a "foot" and much more pressure is on it than the wrist.

This has been a 20 year battle..

From what I have seen with his "foot"..(just the top part, four bones were removed, then they fused it) It has been more trouble than just dealing with the original pain.

Good luck with that, I hope someone who has had a wrist done will write to you.

I know it's very painful.
take care
I just had an Arthroscope and have to have both wrists fused with new bones put in due to arthritis. I can't put undue pressure on them, includes picking up a cup of coffee, it hurts like heck. Sideways motion is the worst, I don't know what's going to happen but, I can hope. It has to be better then now.
