Wooly hat or ralgex?

Question:
The climate in Northern Sandwell is very cold all year round so I've taken to wearing a wooly hat but recently my wife has noticed chaff marks appearing on my forehead.
My friend & local takeaway owner," Fri nights half price" Mr Gupta, suggests applying Ralgex or Deepheat liberally over my entire head to keep me warm like on the Readybreak advert where the kid glows.
But the only problem I can see is the price?
My question is should I persevere with the wooly hat & possibly be scared by cradle cap or try the Ralgex option & the cost it involves?
I do quite like the smell of Ralgex aswell!

Answers:
Although its not as cold in Shropshire we do have some days when it is "Quite Nippy" so I have a proven solution.

Being folically challanged I do feel the cold. I also wear a wooly hat because it fits in with my image of trying to be a farmer while working around our fields.

Cut strips of sandpaper, about 30mm wide and 150 mm long and glue it to the inside brow of your hat. Wear the hat for a few days and you'll notice that the skin gets broken and raw.

A quick spray of shaving foam on the sandpaper each morning creates a burning searing pain that can last most of the morning, this will warm you up nicely. I also find a quick drink of Bio Ethanol helps with the pain.

Sometimes the skin can bleed quite badly, this tend to block your eyesight. I keep a tube of silicon sealant in the bathroom so when I brush my teeth and have a shave in the morning, I also apply a bead of silicon above the eyebrows. It directs the blood down the side of the face. This creates a warm feeling around your neck so has added benefit.

hope that helps, I believe it might be cheaper and more effective than Ralgex
the hat and vaseline
